Since its inception in 2013, WRI has:
● Dedicated staff and equipment in 11 US states and The Bahamas to safely complete more than 100,000 acres of controlled burns that benefit people and wildlife.
● Delivered training in seven US states for controlled burning practitioners;
● Hosted practitioners from Tanzania, Bahamas, and Spain for controlled burning training in the US;
● Helped protect the Gopher Tortoise, the Karner Blue Butterfly, the Red Cockaded Woodpecker, the Clasping Warea, and other protected and endangered species.
In 2017 alone, WRI supplied "boots on the ground" for controlled burning in eight US states.
